Jeffrey Hoffman was born on the campus of Bob Jones University and spent his formative years there, graduating from Bob Jones Academy in 1988 after twelve years in the University's lower schools. After withdrawing from the university as a college freshman, he went on to study classical composition, conducting and organ performance at Manhattan School of Music and today works as an Episcopal organist & choirmaster in the suburbs of New York City. In 2012, with several lgbt+ and affirming friends from BJU's vast alumni network, he launched BJUnity, the affirming alternative for lgbt+ alumni and students of Bob Jones University and other fundamentalist institutions. Currently, BJUnity supports over 200 lgbt+ alumni, former students, faculty and staff of BJU and other Independent Fundamentalist colleges and universities and their constituency. His passion in this work is for people to encounter true faith in the person of Jesus Christ rather than the spiritualized politics that has replaced it in much of the American church today.

Jeffrey Hoffman also serves on the board of Safety Net (one.safetynet.org), a coalition building support for LGBTQ and allied alumni and students at Christian colleges and universities.
