Believe Out Loud: A Million Christians for LGBT Equality
Determined to give voice to the millions of Christians who believe in equal rights for all, including the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community, Believe Out Loud is launching a campaign to get one million Christians to break the silence and join the burgeoning chorus for full LGBT equality in the church.
Progressive Christians across numerous denominations believe that Jesus' message of justice, compassion and love compels them to be fully welcoming of all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Now is the time to speak up and remind the world that it is possible to be Christian AND believe in LGBT inclusion. This Mother's Day, Believe Out Loud is inviting mothers and children everywhere to break the silence.

Love this video!
I joined the Episcopal Church officially in May, 2010. I've never been so welcomed as an (very) out gay man in my life. My husband (married in Iowa, 2010) and I love the support and love from our parish, and, the Holy Ghost is very present there!

Exactly right. Forcing people
Exactly right. Forcing people to act against their natures is an affront to God. Forcing gay people to "be straight" is an affront to God. Gay people are as God made them.
Jeremiah 1:5 ""Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;"
Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
God knows what he's doing. It's presumptuous of us to call his creations flawed.

wonderful video
A very emotional video highlighting the cruelty of the rejection of those who expect a loving acceptance. It is a video that ends with a beautiful message of hope and justice.
I liked it so much that I included in my Blog.
I am convinced that the Holy Spirit will make the hardness of hearts bowing end the power of love and justice
Keep it up
I am a Jewish heterosexual male living in Israel. As such, I belong to a majority. Equal rights for all reflects first and foremost on the majority and should be a given, excuse the pun.
Liberty and Justice for all is not just a pledge to be recited at the beginning of a school day. It should mean something. It does mean something.
It takes guts to stand up to the powers that be, especially in a peaceful manner. But sometimes, it is the only way to create change.
Keep it up.

I think this is absolutely fantastic! I'm not actually a religious person myself but I like to remain open minded about things.
I hope your church prospers, and your cause is widely appreciated by people all over the world. People need to learn to be more accepting and less immature about everything.
P.S. I'm 14 and I live in Australia. I attend an all boys protestant school which has an anti-bullying policy, but even so it's still a huge problem. I hope again that you all do well.

Fantastic video! I am a straight person who is so proud to belong to a congregation that is not afraid to say that it welcomes everyone - including members of LGBTQ community. Recently we voted in overwhelming numbers to join an organization of like-minded churches in our Canadian denomination. It feels good to be part of a church where all are welcome - in the recent past we even had a lesbian minister who was there (and open) for 17 years.

omg, I finally have a video to add to my "Christian Videos" playlist for the first time in years. ;A; *makes sweet love to this video*

Keep up the great work. The more we, as a society, can move Christians away from upholding & perpetuating the teachings of The Bible, the sooner we can be done with this whole religious nonsense all together.

The only thing that is making my heart really sad right at this moment is the obstacle course they had to walk through before they finally got to the front of the church and were welcomed by the Minister. I know, first hand, what a HUGE step it is just to walk through the doors of the church .. and most LGBT people seeing the reception this family received, would have turned around and walked out before they ever got to the front. Very mixed tears right now.

This is moving and touching. Thank you for making this. I am a pastor in the Chicago area and about 15% of our church is LGBT. Funny part was, I did not know it until I broke the silence about a year and a half ago. Yeah, it hurt attendance, but I would not trade who we are as a church now for anything.

@texastardis If you go the Believe Out Loud website you can search for LGBT welcoming churches by state. There are quite a few in TX (although I know Texas is a BIG state!) Good luck!

This is a great vid whatever you think about homosexuality I don't believe that Jesus would have wanted people to show anything but acceptance to people who want to show up on Sunday.

We at @Cathedral of Hope Salt Lake City love this video and are asking everyone we know to share it far and wide! The good news that God loves everyone is too important not to share, and this is a lovely way to do just that!

So thankful that our church is committed to being an "Open and Affirming Church" for people of all sexual orientations, religious backgrounds or lack of, gender, ethnicity, ability, age, you name it. Rev. Dr. Mike Holland, pastor, Church of the Foothills, UCC and DOC, Santa Ana, Ca. thanks for the great video. We will show it in church!

The question is if Christian hate is stronger than Chriastian love. Christians still have not resolved that internal conflict. If you don't have someone to persecute, how do you know you are better than they are.

The very fact that this ad was rejected for placement in Sojourners should be evidence enough that the churches are still well behind the general population in their acceptance of LGBT people.

Over the past 60 years, GLBT people have made significant, nearly unbelievable victories toward equality in the United States. But the church has not only lagged behind - it has usually been the main opposing force in that battle. The Christian church may eventually get its house in order - but I fear that will not happen until the last battle for fairness has already been won, over their earnest objections.

This video is beautifully executed...
The video is beautifully executed, poignant, touching, and very much needed. Our congregation oh-h-h-h-h-ed and ahh-h-h-h-h-h-ed when they saw it and then burst into spontaneous applause. It is authentic, helpful, gentle and makes an important point in an open-hearted way. Bravo and thank you.
This Just In From a Pastor in California!
"35 years ago, by the grace of God, I walked into a church and a denomination—First Congregational Church of Berkeley of the United Church of Christ—that would welcome me into a powerful journey of faith and stand with me as a gay man. All these years later, it can still be a challenge for lgbt people to find congregations who will love and support them right where they are. I'm grateful to Believe Out Loud for making such moving statements about what it means to welcome everyone into the family of faith."
Phil Porter, Minister of Art & Communication, First Congregational Church of Berkeley, United Church of Christ
