"My Haters Are My Motivators" Says Ellen To JCPenney Critics

Believe Out Loud, Ellen DeGeneres

A group called “One Million Moms” recently called for JCPenny to fire talk show host Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson because she is a lesbian. In an email to Reuters, a spokesperson rejected the call stating, "jcpenny stands behind its partnership with Ellen DeGeneres."

On today’s show with both wit and humor, Ellen addressed the hate groups call for her firing and commented on the values she stands for. "I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you'd want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional values. That's what I stand for…I also believe in dance."

One Million Moms is a project of the American Family Association, a group designated as a hate group by the Montgomery Alabama-based civil rights organization, the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Last night Bill O’Reilly also stated on Fox, that despite the right to opinion and choice in where Americans want to take their business, the demand that JCPenney “fire a spokesperson who has done nothing legally wrong” was against the “spirit of America.” He stated, “this JCPenney thing is a witch hunt and it shouldn’t happen.”

All haters get a life

not a part of the one million and one moms, too santimonious for me. I think for myself, believe what I want, do unto others as I would like them to do unto me, recognize every person as an individual to live their lives as they please, will never let anyone influence what I do and promise to shop JC Penny more since I found out this heater group is out there.

One Million Moms, huh????

Wow... one million moms. I wonder how many of you straight moms will birth and raise GAY sons and daughters. I hope it is 1/4 of you, you ignorant, hate mongering piles of crap. Way to teach and breed hatred. You may be "moms" but you sure as hell aren't parents or moral compasses for kids.

As a mom, I'm ashamed that you can call yourselves the same.

dear return hater

I'd agree with you, except you sound kinda hateful yourself.

One Million Moms

I LOVE Ellen.  She stands for everything good in America.  What does her sexual orientation have to do with ANYTHING!  Look at all the good she has and continues to do.  And she's funny as hell!  Also, kudos to Bill O'Reilly and for JCPenney for backing her up.  I always liked JCPenney and will make sure I shop there more now.   Who are these people that they are so much better and can judge?  I am a "straight" married mother of 3 and I have no issues with gay or lesbian partnerships.  Why shouldn't they be happy too?  Don't attack someone because they are different from you.  I love you Ellen and totally support you in anything you do.

Me too

Well said.

Normally I'm not much of a JCP shopper, but I'm making a purposeful trip there to do some shopping.

Ellen and JC Penny

I support Ellen and am thrilled Penneys is standing behind her. I have always shopped at Penneys and will do so even more now. For the judgmental people, remember the bible mentions homosexuality a couple of times, but mentions judging others thousands of times. I am a straight married mom and I support all human beings who are honest, kind, loyal and are good people regardless of their sexual orientation.

I am very glad Ellen talked

I am very glad Ellen talked about her haters.  Where I work I am hated because I am gay.  There are some people who won't even try to get to know me.  They found out I am gay and just avoid me, so when I hear someone like Ellen talking about haters it makes me feel less alone.  I have to go to work every day and every day I dread it more and more.

There is this one woman who accused me, unjustily, of coming onto her when I was just trying to be friends.  That is small mindedness of these people.

Ellen thanks for sharing and JC Penny thanks for supporting.

Proud to shop at J.C. Penny's

J.C. Penny,

I will go out of my way to do business in your stores.  I am glad you stood for human equity rather than assert one faith as the "right" one.  YAY J.C. Penny!

Way to go JC Penny

Although I normally shop at JC Pennys. I'm going to promise to be more loyal than ever to them. Anyone that will take a challenge like this and take a stand is what this country needs. To hate someone just because they're different is uncalled for. It would be like hating some one because they're not blond haired and blue eyed.

Ellen!

It's groups like One Million Moms that gives America a bad name globally! I say we boycott THEM and let them know we won't stand for ANY type of ~ISM in this country any longer!

We decided that racism was not what we wanted as Americans, and the KKK is now weak and pathetic, as are the NEO NAZI and other white supremicist groups. I'd just as soon spit in all those LOSERS faces!

Why don't we band together as a country and ship all the rest of the ignorant prejudice people to a deserted island where they won't have to be among us civilized folk any longer???

I'm out the door right now

I'm out the door right now headed to J C Penney
