Last week, Starbucks joined more than 100 businesses in welcoming LGBT marriages in the state of Washington. Almost instantly after this announcement, a group of individuals led by USA Christian Ministries organized a boycott under the false premise that all “Christians are upset with Starbucks for turning against God.”

Believe Out Loud recognizes that God’s love knows no limits and we call on Christians to support Starbucks and their decision to stand up for LGBT marriages. “We are grateful for Starbucks and their CEO, Howard Schultz, for their continued and public support of the LGBT community,” said Joseph Ward, Director of Believe Out Loud. “We invite fellow Christians and allies to show their appreciation by signing a virtual thank-you card on our website, which we will deliver to Starbucks Headquarters next month.”

I don't agree with businesses that support this organization. God does not hate gay people, he hates the sin. It is declared in His word that He finds this sin of homosexuality an abomination. Most Christians who speak out against this sin, not the sinner, feel this way too. Just as I pray for people living in various sins, I pray for homosexuals too. I don't hate them. I pray for them out of love.

I'm more than happy to purchase your coffee, knowing that you're supportive of marriage equality. As a Christian, I find yours a much more Christ-like attitude than that of the people calling for a boycott.

It seems a lot of Christians forget this and make themselves the judge of others. Some people just seem to need to feel like part of an elitist club of judgmental "Christians". It isn't "Christian" at all. if you go back to WWJD, he'd accept everyone, just like Starbucks. and for that I thank Starbucks!

Christians do not hate the people. Christians hate the sin they do. It goes against God's Word. Others hate Christians because they don't believe in what the world sometimes believe. Please don't hate Christians for not believing the same. God loves everyone including the sinner but not the sin. We only follow Him. Thank you.

I think this is a great opportunity for progressive Christians to stand up and be counted. Starbucks is a great LGBT supporter and a great supporter of environmental causes and deserves our thanks. As a gay Christian, trying to follow the teachings of jesus as best I can I appreciate the diverse environment provided at Starbucks but I doubt that I will miss those Christians who choose to boycot.

Although the reeking stench of coffee prevents me from getting anywhere near a Starbucks, I applaud their act of support for the LGBT community. May they also show such support for other groups which USA Christian Ministries deems worthy of their bigotry, like atheists.
