From Toronto to Tupelo: Two New LGBT Inclusive Campaigns

I am inspired.
This week, I learned about two new campaigns to promote LGBT equality. From where I sit in Dayton, OH, they are due North (Toronto) and due South (Tupelo). In a world where all the action seems to generate from a coast, I am needless to say thrilled with this vertical trajectory!
- The first – Love, Acceptance, Support: Every House Deserves to Be a Home from Toronto, Ontario – is an initiative of Black Families and Friends, a sub-chapter affiliated with PFLAG Canada. Using print ads and videos, the campaign features parents, spiritual leaders and friends who are speaking out about their Love, Acceptance, and Support of LGBT Black youth. While targeting Canadian audiences, the stories and images of this campaign are universal!
- The second – Give Hate a Holiday, sponsored by the film and movement Out in the Silence – is a series of events to be held in Tupelo, MS on Monday, October 10 that will raise public awareness about the lives and concerns of LGBT people in Mississippi and throughout the South. This event has special significance since Tupelo is the home of the American Family Association, an organization designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its false and hateful anti-LGBT propaganda. If you are anywhere near Tupelo, please consider attending this important event!
Wishing you similar inspiration this week and always,
